Holiday Gift Guide for Her 2013 – Danielleisms

Gift Guide for Her

Holiday shopping season is upon us, and I know every year I can struggle with gift ideas for my friends and family. So this year I wanted to post my  gift guide for her and show you my top 6 picks for the special lady in your life!

1. H&M Knit Sweater $19.95 – When I saw this sweater at H&M I immediately fell in love. Not only is it super cute for a beauty lover, but I think it’s also a little funky too and can’t help but make me think of Rocky Horror. Not to mention, it’s warm and affordable!

2. Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette $27.00 – This is a palette I think every girl should have in her makeup collection. It doesn’t matter if she likes to rock dramatic evening looks, or only wears makeup every now and then. It’s so useful and one of the most functional and affordable palettes on the market!

3. Case-Mate DIY Case $35.00+ – I have one of these custom photo cases and I can’t tell you how many people stop to ask me about it.

4.  Sephora Fragrance Sampler for Her $65.00 – Fragrance is a personal thing and I’d normally tell you not to buy someone a new fragrance unless it’s one you know they specifically want. The reason I love this set is that if your wife, mom, or sister love perfumes, they get to sample 14 fragrances and then are left with a voucher to redeem for a full-size bottle of their favorite!

5. Marc Jacobs Genius Gel Super-Charged Foundation $48.00 – While this foundation may be a little pricey, it’s amazing. It’s long-wearing and buildable, so you can get a more natural finish, or add a little more to look super flawless on a date or night out. While I normally tend to stay away from super pricey foundations, this one is worth it! If you’re unsure what shade to purchase, try out Sephora’s Color IQ matching system online!

6. Marc by Marc Jacobs Classic Q Wingman Phone Wallet $148.00 – I have one of these small iPhone wallets myself and I have been finding it so handy lately. I can fit my iPhone, ID, a few cards, and even a lipstick in it and be out the door. Sometimes you don’t want to be bothered carrying out a big bag all night, so this wristlet is perfect. It’s a beautiful gift for the holidays without breaking the bank too much.

I hope my gift guide will help as we all start shopping for the holidays! What are some things you’re wishing for this year?

New Year’s Eve Makeup Tutorial

New Year's Eve Makeup

I can’t believe it, but 2012 is almost over! It’s been a great year and it’s been so fun starting my blog and YouTube channel and getting to share my passion for beauty with you all!

Today I wanted to show you my most recent video which is a New Year’s Eve makeup tutorial! It’s really glittery and glamourous and would be perfect for New Year’s or any special event you may have.

Don’t be scared by the glitter! I am not a fan of glitter and I was pretty hesitant to do this look because I was fearful or the glitter aftermath. You know what I’m talking about, glitter specs that hang around for days (or weeks), glitter in my eyeballs, etc. However, I faced my fear of glitter and guess what? It wasn’t bad at all! Here are my glitter tips for those who are also hesitant to use this sparkly stuff.

  • Use a product like Fix+ or the Mixing Medium from MAC to help get the glitter to stick.
  • Apply a cream shadow first, as your base, again this will help keep the glitter on your eyelid because it’s another product it can adhere to.
  • If you do have fallout on your face, wrap some tape around your finger and pat over those areas to pick up the specs. It works really well!
  • Only dip one side or your brush into the glitter, if you cover the entire brush the glitter on the side that isn’t being pressed down will just fall all over your face and no one wants that.
  • When you’re done for the night and ready to take your makeup off, I suggest using a makeup remover towelette to gently wipe off your eyelids first. Once you have all the glitter off your eyes, wash your face with a good cleanser and warm water. By removing the eye makeup first you’ll avoid getting the glitter all over your face when using your face wash.

Penelope Cruz Makeup & Holiday Look Tutorial

Penelope Cruz Makeup

I am so excited and also shocked that we are only two weeks away from Christmas. While on that note, I want to wish everyone a Happy Hanukkah as well! I love this time of year so I for one am not wishing the next few weeks away.

For today’s post I wanted to share with you a Penelope Cruz makeup tutorial that I filmed this past weekend with my sister-in-law Cameo. She was a great model for this bronzey-brown smokey look. Similar to my Demi Lovato look, I think this is such a perfect look to wear to a holiday party. It’s just so pretty and not too over the top where you’ll feel too made up.

Check out my video to learn how to create this look and let me know if you try it out. If you do, post a photo to my Facebook page or Tweet it to me!

What item did you get for the holiday’s or are your really hoping to get? I really want the Urban Decay Naked Basics eyeshadow palette!

Red, White, and Beautiful

Hey everyone, I wanted to post about my look that I wore for the 4th. I know the holiday is behind us now, but guess what? The 2012 Summer Olympics start in a few weeks on July 27th and this look also works to show your USA pride!

I saw a lot of crazy looks out there for the 4th, but I didn’t want to be hanging out at our friends BBQ with stars, stripes, and flags all over my face. o_0 I wanted to do something subtle, but still celebratory.

Cute and simple, right? Red lipstick, white shimmery shadow, and blue mascara. It’s as easy as that. I also decided to use some peachy blush, and blue eyeliner winged-out. I bought a cheap eyeliner at Walgreens for $0.99 so it was pretty hard to work with and had little color payoff. Boo.

My outfit you ask? I got this flowy red top at Target and these really cute and appropriate shorts at Forever 21.

Product spotlight:

Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer (SPF!)

MAC Eye Shadows in Shroom and Blanc Type

Great Lash mascara in Royal Blue

Smashbox Brow Tech in Brunette

Crappy blue eyeliner in Who Even Cares? x_x

MAC lipstick in Russian Red

MAC lipliner in Brick

Neutrogena Age Shield Face Sunblock SPF 70 (Seemed to work well, my face didn’t get red at all!)

Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Body Mist Sunblock SPF 70 (Not impressed, still got a little red, but maybe I didn’t spray enough?)
