Effie Trinket Makeup Tutorial – The Hunger Games – Halloween

I am so happy it’s October! I love this time of year and now that I’m finally living somewhere that gets a real Fall (read: not Florida) I couldn’t be more excited! I am already planning a trip to an apple orchard and pumpkin patch!

Effie Trinket MakeupLet’s get back to the point of this post, Effie Trinket! I had to do a Effie Trinket makeup tutorial this year. I am big fan of the Hunger Games series and I always thought Effie was such a unique character. I think they did a great job bringing her character to life in the first film and I can’t wait to see all her unique style when Catching Fire comes out in November.

When you really dissect it, Effie’s makeup is pretty simple, but it’s striking. To be the lashes are key in having this look come together. Paperself makes these incredible paper lashes, and are the exact pair Effie wears in the film. However, they are a little pricey for a one-time-use item, but don’t worry because there is a much more affordable pair on the market that are basically identical! Fantasy Makers by Wet n Wild have a pair of paper lashes in “Woodland Dreams” that are only $4.99 and exact match to.

To really bring the look together, you’re going to want to get a wig similar to what Effie wears. I found mine at Spirit Halloween for $19.99. To be fair though, even if you skip the wig, the makeup look is pretty and unique on it’s own with just the lashes. I finished off my version with a colorful blazer to complete the look.

Galaxy Makeup for Halloween and Fall Tag!

Galaxy Makeup
Happy Monday everyone! Three days until Halloween! I am extra excited because the weather in Florida has cooled down quite a bit from the crazy weather happening right now. The high here today is 68 which is amazing! However, the weather is not so great for everyone up in the North East! I am from New Jersey and still have a lot of family up there, so I’m sending everyone positive wishes that they don’t lose power and stay dry.

Since Halloween falls on a Wednesday this year, a lot of people went out to celebrate this past weekend. My friend Claire had a really fun and unique costume idea this year. She was going to be the galaxy! Claire is a chemist and loves science, so to me this seemed appropriate. She found a really cute dress from Mod Cloth and asked me if I’d help do her makeup. I was excited to take on the challenge!

I used a white face paint as base for all of the colors and used the Coastal Scents 88 Original Palette for the purples, pinks, and blues! Claire had also bought this NYX Roll On Eye Shimmer in Purple and NYX Roll On Eye Shimmer in Light Blue which I incorporated as well.

Since she was all about the glitter this year, so I used some NYX Loose Blue Glitter
to line her eyes and we applied Ardell Demi lashes to make her eyes really pop.

I decided to only do half of her face and make it a little more abstract than super costumey. I wanted part of Claire’s lovely face to still show through!

For the stars I used the NYX Cosmetics Slide On Pencil in Pure White
in white and accented them with some Detailz Face Paint in Silver.

What do you think about this galaxy makeup and costume? I think it’s so unique! Claire’s husband Sean was Wayne Coyne from The Flaming Lips by the way. Let it sink in.

What are you going to be for Halloween this year? Let me know if you’ve replicated any of my tutorials. I’d love to see the photos!

Now last by not least, I did my first tag video on YouTube! It is the I Heart Fall tag. It was really fun to film and I hope you all enjoy it! The questions are in the info box on the video and I tag all of you to answer the questions. Leave me your answers either here or on the video! Bellatrix Lestrange Costume Tutorial – Harry Potter

Bellatrix Lestrange Costume TutorialCan you believe Halloween is less than a week away? If you’re still looking for costume ideas be sure you’re subscribed to my YouTube channel and check out my Halloween videos. My latest Halloween video is a Bellatrix Lestrange costume tutorial. I don’t know about you, but I’m a big Harry Potter fan! I’ll admit, I got into Harry Potter a little later than most, but I still love it just as much as the next.

Bellatrix Lestrange is such a fun character, while at the same time being so deranged and evil. If there was ever a perfect casting, it was Helena Bonham Carter for Bellatrix. Spot on!

What I love about this costume is how easy it is! It’d be really easy to throw together over this next week and the makeup is very simple. It’s all about creating shadows and making yourself look a litter worse for wear. Plus, it’s kind of fun to have crazy messy hair and not worry about a nicely styled look.

I also just want to take a moment here to say that I am a Hufflepuff, so shout out to all you honey badgers out there! What house are you all in? :)

Finally, I talk about it in my video, but if you’re ever in Orlando and/or London you need to check out both the Harry Potter theme park in Islands of Adventure and the Harry Potter Studios tour outside of London. Both are so amazing! I think I liked the studio tour a little more, but the rides at the park are really fun too!

Let me know if you try out this costume idea and post your photos to my Facebook page! Don’t forget to subscribe to my YouTube channel when you get a chance!

The Walking Dead-Inspired Zombie Makeup Tutorial

Zombie Makeup TutorialIs everyone really excited for The Walking Dead premier on Sunday? Maybe you don’t watch the show, but you or one of your kids want to get zombified for Halloween this year. Well, you’ve landed in the right place! To get everyone excited for Sunday, I have made a zombie makeup tutorial which will be really easy for anyone to recreate whether it’s for Halloween, a zombie 5k run, or any other reason you might have to look like the living dead.

I know that zombies can get pretty gross and gory looking, but since I’m not super keen on that look, I kept my gore to a minimum. You can really make this look your own and add as many wounds, prosthesis, and blood as your sick heart desires. :)

Let me know what you think of my zombie makeup tutorial and please post photos to my Facebook page if you recreate this look!

Be sure to like the video (it really helps the video out), comment, and subscribe to my YouTube channel! Like I’ve been saying, when I reach 100 subscribers I’m going to be having a really cool giveaway.

Bane Mask Tutorial – The Dark Knight Rises

Bane Mask TutorialI love this time of year as we approach our first holiday, which is of course Halloween! I am so excited to show everyone my Bane mask tutorial. I have been wanting to do this since I first saw images of how Bane looked in The Dark Knight Rises. I thought Christopher Nolan and Tom Hardy’s portrayal of Bane was so intense and just plain awesome.

I have no doubt that Batman, Catwoman, Bane, and even Robin will be all over the place on the 31st! One of my friends has even told me she is considering being Commissioner Gordon, amazing.

Check out my video Bane mask tutorial on how I created this Bane mask using both makeup and face paint. This is a lot cheaper and more comfortable than wearing an actual face mask! It also allows you to be creative and add your own touches.

Be sure to check out my Catwoman tutorial if you’re looking for a more sexy feline look this Halloween!

Comment with suggestions for more Halloween tutorials or let me know if you have any questions.

Tip: To help set your face paint so it lasts all night while you’re trick or treating, try Ben Nye’s Final Seal spray or Urban Decay’s All Nigther setting spray.
